Landmark n°10. Vega Central

Born in colonial times, this was a meeting spot and a place of nightly entertainment for the lower classes. With State support, it experienced explosive growth in 1895, culminating with the opening of the private market called “Vega Central” in 1916. Today, La Vega is the second largest food market in Santiago after Lo Valledor.

This tour is highly recommended for those who want to experience the daily life of the gastronomic and commercial industry of Santiago, being a hub market for a variety of products, specially fruits and vegetables, both domestic and imported. Here you’ll also find all sorts of restaurants that offer typical dishes for very reasonable prices.
